This weekend, auctioneers Antique Helper are holding their February Art, Antiques & Estate Jewelry Auction.
This features a number of collectible coins including a US twenty dollar gold Liberty coin 1900 mounted in gold (listed at $2,000-3,000) and a Walking Liberty/Eagle $20 gold coin, 1908 (expected to bring $900-$1,200). Both would make good entry-level investments.
However the top lot is likely to be an 18K yellow gold diamond butterfly pin by Asprey & Co.
The pin contains one European cut diamond weighing approximately 1.00 carats, one fancy yellow pear shaped diamond weighing approximately .10 carats and two square cut diamonds weighing approximately .02 carats total.

Additionally, there are thirty-two light pink round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.23 carats total, one-hundred and thirty-five dark yellow and orange round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 8.44 carats total and two fancy yellow round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately .66 carats total.
The stones are bead, prong, and flush set in movable wings and on the body, and the lot includes an Asprey presentation case. It is expected to sell for $25,000-$35,000 in the sale which takes place on February 19 in Indianopolis, USA and online.
Perhaps this is what the Ethiopian jewelled caterpillar will be when it grows up...
