A comedian and famous car collector has reportedly added a highly-coveted $2m rarity to his legendary automobile collection.

Tonight Show host Jay Leno is reportedly in-line to receive the Stile Bertone Mantide supercar - of which only ten customer versions are to be built.

Leno was seen hanging out with Bertone's chief designer, Jason Castriota, at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he reportedly fell in love with the unusual car.

The Mantide's design has inspired reactions of both love and loathing from enthusiasts.

The $2m supercar is actually a custom bodied Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever produced, boasting 638 horsepower.

Bertone recruited Castriota, formerly of rival design house Pininfarina, to remodel the ZR1 inside and out.

There is already a secretive order list in place, on which Leno is said to be fourth or fifth. Castriota says the company will build only ten examples.

This will cement the Mantide's status as a valuable global collectors' phenomenon.

It will certainly make a fine, high-profile addition to Leno's renowned car collection.
