Monte Carlo Lagonda races to £167k

One of two LG45 Tourers entered by Lagonda for the 1936 Monte Carlo Rally was the undisputed star of the H&H sale at Race Retro, Stoneleigh last Saturday (March 13).

Although the car slid out of the rally after just 200 miles, this magnificent vintage racer has survived the last 74 years without further mishap.

The LG45 Tourer by Lagonda, sold for £167,200

Overall, some 278 LG45's were manufactured in its era, of which 150 or so are thought to have survived to this day.

Boasting resplendent cream coachwork complemented by green leather upholstery, it sold for £167,200 - way over its top estimate.

Watch this space for more news on the results from H&H's auction.

Prior H&H auctions this year have included successful sales of the 'ultimate Porsche 911', the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight (M471 Sport) and the 1971 Ferrari Dino 246GT.
