Mecum's classic cars auction gears up to repeat its Kansas City success

Mecum have announced they are taking consignments for their 2011 Kansas City spring auction. The sale at Bartle Hall on March 11-12 looks set to feature the cream of collectible automobiles, from high-powered muscle machines to elegant classics.

Mecum's two Kansas sales in 2010 certainly saw some fireworks with packed houses and record-breaking prices, and with the collectible car market showing no signs of slowing down the next sale could easily live up to its predecessors.

The 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe sold in Mecum's
2010 Kansas City spring sale for $125,000

Back at the start of December the Kansas crowds saw some stunning sales including a 1957 Ford Thunderbird F Bird Convertible which sold for $186,000, a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback which made $175,000 and a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Big Tank Coupe that sold for $141,000.

The sale also featured this 1965 Ford Shelby Cobra 427
Roadster, which sold for $84,000

And back in April collectors were treated to a fine selection of vehicles which featured a stunning 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe with a price of $125,000 and a 1965 Ford Shelby Cobra 427 Roadster which sold for $84,000.

If the previous sales are anything to go by, Kansas should start preparing for an influx of serious collectors and petrol-heads from around the globe. Anyone with an interest in collectible cars should watch this space, as we'll be taking a closer look at the sale's star attractions as soon as they're announced.
