The world-renowned Laidlaw Competition Car Collection will sell at RM Auctions on September 7-9 in London.

The Laidlaw collection is known as one of the finest collections of sports racing cars ever assembled by a single owner - Lord Irvine Laidlaw.
Highlighting will be the ex-works and ex-Ecurie Ecosse 1955 Jaguar D-Type, which the auction house describes as "unquestionably one of the most important ex-works racing Jaguars ever to be presented at auction."
The car was driven by star racers Duncan Hamilton, Paul Frere and Peter Sutcliffe in its day, boosting its value to collectors even further.
Lord Laidlaw commented on the sale: "I don't regard myself as a collector. I am a car enthusiast and as an enthusiast, I want to exercise my cars regularly, rather than gloat over them in the garage.

Comprised mainly of 1950s and 1960s competition cars, the collection also features the stunning 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Berlinetta Competizione, chassis no. 09027, which finished 10th at Le Mans in 1966.
RM Auctions saw a world record for a 1953 Ferrari 340/375 MM Pinin Farina Berlinetta Competizione on May 25, when it sold for $12.8m at its Lake Como auction.
