An L88 1967 Chevrolet Corvette sold for $3.2m at Mecum Auctions' sale in Dallas on September 4-7. Featuring a line up of 1,400 classic cars, the event achieved impressive total sales of $38m - a new record for the auction house.

The Chevrolet is one of just 20 produced in 1967 and won the NHRA A/Sports Nationals at Indianapolis the same year. It was accompanied by its original tank sticker, vintage race photos and timeslips.
A rare 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 took second place with $530,000.
