George Best's 1971 Jaguar E-Type V12 Coupe was among the headline lots of H&H Auction's classic car sale in Duxford on October 14.
It realised a solid £43,000 ($66,554). Best owned the car for three years during the early 1970s.
H&H Auction's sales manager Damien Jones said in the run-up to the sale: "Once in a while a car comes along that makes me think of reaching for my chequebook.
"This is one of those cars. It is a legend and was owned by a legend. It does not get much better than that."
