Although based on the memoirs of a 1950s police detective, the show was updated with a simple premise: three young and hip detectives using their streetwise hippie credentials to nail the bad guys.
Intended to appeal to the young counterculture audience of the time, the show ran for 123 episodes to much success and acclaim.
Along with the changing youth culture portrayed in the show's action-packed episodes, the American car market also underwent massive changes during The Mod Squad's five season run.
In that time, the "youth" automobiles market went from a late-1960s peak to its fuel and insurance-constrained nadir in the early 1970s.
The 1971 Dodge Challenger Convertible for sale at RM was one of the two or three cars used for on-screen work during the 1972 Mod Squad season.
