H&H's recent classic car sale in Buxton, Derbyshire may have been hit by some of the UK's first snow and ice. But this did little to dampen collectors' spirits on December 9.
The car auctioneer described its sale as "finish[ing] the year on a typically high note" with big highlights including a 1951 ex-Walter Grant-Norton Jaguar XK120 Roadster.
The Jaguar boasts remarkable provenance, having been a veteran of the Alpine, London and RAC rallies.

H&H billed the car as "without question one of the most historically important 120s to come to market in recent years."
In the end, a UK collector confirmed the Jaguar XK120 Roadster's importance with a £133,200 final bid.
Other big successes in H&H's snow-hit auction included no fewer than five classic Aston Martin cars.
These comprised a high specification DB5 Vantage. It was one of four Aston Martins to star in the opening of the UK's M6 Toll Road.

The others were a "well presented" Pacific Blue 1966 DB6 Vantage (which sold for £121,000); a 1968 Silver-coloured DB6 (£75,000); a 1973 Red DBS Vantage (£38,500); and a "very pretty" 1999 DB7 Vantage Volante (£26,400).
Overall, the sale marked a great end to 2011 for H&H as classic cars continue to fly in the face of economic downturn. We look forward to reporting on H&H's upcoming 2012 auctions.
