Ariel Square Four motorcycle auctions from Roger Banks Collection in UK

As rare and classic motorcycles continue to consolidate their values and appeal in the collectors' markets, here's a nod to the noted collector Roger Banks.

Banks's collection will be auctioning at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, UK on April 19.

Among the Roger Banks Collection's many rare highlights is this 1937 1000cc Ariel Square Four motorcycle.

This is one of four such bikes - nicknamed "Squariels" by enthusiasts - to grace the sale. It carries a £10,000-£12,000 presale estimate.

Pre-war classic motorcycles have seen enjoying plenty of auction success in recent times. This 1937 Ariel Square should be no exception.

Registration number WPV167A's gleaming black bodywork and fish-like exhaust will undoubtedly draw bidders at the Duxford sale.

The other Ariel Square Four motorcycles appearing for sale date to 1947, 1952 and 1956. All four are expected to draw motorcycle enthusiasts and devoted collectors from far and wide.
