€500,000 Mercedes set to auction in Le Mans

French auction house Artcurial has announced its newly structured Vintage Automobiles Department, whose first sale will take place on July 9 at Le Mans Classic 2010.

Collectors around the world are currently invited to consign their classic automobiles to the sale, which promises some of the best historic and mouth-watering cars around.

The 1962 Mercedes Benz 300SL

Some of the consignments have already been revealed. These include a German classic, the 1962 Mercedes Benz 300SL Roadster. The iconic 300SL is equipped with a hard-top, disc brakes and an alloy engine.

It will auction with an estimate of €430,000-500,000.

Two legendary racers will also feature in the sale. Younger of the two is the 1995 McLaren F1 GTR engine art car painted by César.

The 1962 Panhard Type CD

This distinctive auto was raced at the 24 Hours Le Mans in 1995. The McLaren's estimate is available on request.

Also appearing is the 1962 Panhard Type CD coach aerodynamique, which also raced at the 24 Hours Le Mans back in 1962. It is estimated at €140,000-180,000.

More details on how to consign are available at Artcurial's website.
