1967 Chevrolet Corvette makes $120,000 in Kansas City Spring Auction

A fully restored Corvette Convertible led sales in an auction dominated by a range of high-end Chevrolet models.

The top-seller of the classic models on sale achieved $120,000, closely followed by a near-identical '67 convertible which reached $100,000, demonstrating the continuing popularity of these cars and their investment potential.

Other Chevrolet models, including a modified 1969 Camaro RSZ28 and an exciting customised Bel Air Pro Touring 454 CI, also performed well.

These are great days for classic car collectors. Classic car values rose 6.21% in January 2012, according to the HAGI Top 50 Index, the Historic Auto Group's price index of leading classic cars.

Dietrich Hatlapa, founder of the index commented: "We've discovered that classic cars move independently to any other investment area. That's an attractive attribute for collectors and investors alike."

Despite Chevrolet's success at the auction, perhaps the most unique model was the professionally restored 1947 Dodge WDX, which achieved $65,000. This rare model is one for real classic car fans, having been displayed at the National Power Wagon Rally in Iowa for two years running.
