A fantastic 1958 Chevrolet Impala saw the highest bids on the first day (August 15) of Mecum Auctions' sale as part of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

The sale runs until Saturday (August 17), with one of two Ferrari replicas made for the 1980s cult movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off expected to star.
The Impala Hardtop sold for $71,000, a tribute to its superb condition following a stunning restoration.
A factory correct Rochester fuel injection, it has been a best of show winner at numerous events, including securing the AACA National first place award and a Classic Chevy International Platinum Certificate.
Dual exhausts, spinner wheel covers and its original 1958 California licence plates further enhanced the Chevy's appeal to bidders.

Bringing the second highest bids was a 2003 Bentley Arnage R, which made $70,000.
In fantastic condition and having spent much of its life in southern California, the Arnage R offers more comfort than its predecessor, the Arnage, or its companion, the Arnage T, due to its relaxed suspension, reclining seats and parking sensors.
Also starring was a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie, which sold for $68,000. The matching numbers, 327/360 HP engined Corvette will make for a brilliant restoration project, retaining all its original features as well as 90% of its original paint with no rust.
