A unique 1949 Indian-Vincent factory prototype is to star in Bonhams' Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction on January 26.
The bike was created in a collaborative effort between American company Indian and British marque Vincent, two of the most celebrated manufacturers of their era.
The Indian-Vincent never entered full production
It's essentially a Vincent Series C engine on an Indian Chief frame, with a mix of components from both companies.
Two models were constructed at Vincent's factory in Stevenage: the present model and the Vindian, which used a Vincent Rapide engine as the base.
Sadly, Indian went under before either of the bikes could enter production.
This is the first time the prototype has ever been offered at auction. It's expected to make around $250,000-300,000 - although it could go for much more.
The lot is part of an unprecedented consignment of 16 Vincents, which includes models from across the company's history.
Black Knights, Shadows and Comets will star in what is set to be the biggest Vincent sale of all time.
Nick Smith, Bonhams' US head of motorcycles, said: "Vincent is one of the most respected and sought after names in the world of collectors' motorcycles and to have this unprecedented assembly - not to mention being selected to represent the legendary prototype - is just phenomenal.
"It's an incredible opportunity for Vincent aficionados."
