A first edition copy of Jacob de Cordova's 1849 Map of Texas is to auction with an estimate of $150,000-200,000 at Heritage Auctions.
The lot is to lead the Texana Signature Auction in Dallas on March 15.

Cordova was an early US colonial, instrumental in supplying goods to Texas during its struggle for independence with Mexico in 1835-1836.
Following the state's victory in the battle of San Jacinto, he travelled to Texas where he bought up large quantities of land in the fledgling republic.
At one point he held over 1m acres, and regularly delivered speeches in cities across the United States urging people to settle in Texas.
The hand-coloured lithograph was created in 1849 and is one of only a handful known to exist. It was praised for its accuracy on publication, swiftly becoming the state's official map
A Spanish language broadside announcing a plan to develop a republican form of government in Texas will also feature. Printed in 1823 by George Asbridge, it is valued at $40,000-60,000.
The imprint is the earliest extant example ever to be printed in the state, and is one of only two known examples. The other is kept in the permanent collection of the Bancroft Library at the University of California.
