A first edition copy of the original Alcoholics Anonymous book could make $6,000-9,000 at Swann Auction Galleries in New York on April 14.
The 'Big Book' is described as 'one of the most influential books of the twentieth century' |
It's titled The Story of How More than One Hundred Men Have Recovered from Alcoholism, but is better known as the "Big Book" (in reference to the unusually thick paper used in this edition).
Swann describes it as "one of the most influential books of the twentieth century.
"The redemption of one hundred men is an impressive accomplishment, but the group has now grown to more than a million members. This is one of the cleanest copies of the first printing we have traced at auction."
The original draft manuscript for the Big Book sold for $1.4m at Sotheby's New York in 2004.
