Raritan has announced its online Auction #49, coming up in mid-September. The sale includes nearly 1,500 lots with a wide range of countries providing intriguing items.
There are American, British and European stamps aplenty, with a good range of Chinese and Japanese lots going under the hammer too.
One of the most interesting sections is the airmail stamps and covers. Notably, there is a Charles A. Lindbergh (1902-74) First Flight Cover marked with his autograph.
Dated April 15, 1926, it is an illustrated First Flight Contract Air Mail (CAM-2) Cover on line Chicago - St. Louis, which was posted into the mail in Springfield, IL on a return flight, franked by five stamps.
With two nice impressions of the violet flight cachet, Chicago "Apr.15.9:30pm.1926", it bears a machine arrival date stamp on the reverse and is signed by Postmaster and Pilot at the bottom left corner.

Described by the auctioneer as 'mostly very fine', it currently bears a bid of $1,000 and may be expected to go higher. Lindbergh's signature is highly valued on the markets.
Likewise, there is a cover signed by pilot Wiley Post and navigator Harold Gatty from the pioneering flight of the Winnie Mae around the world.
Dated June 23-July 1, 1931, it is franked by Washington 2c carmine and bears all the appropriate markings, including the Soviet Union "Dobroliot" cachet and arrival datestamp. It is in very fine condition and rapidly catching the Lindbergh on value.
