January 20, 2012 will see a mammoth Music Memorabilia Auction in New York.
Stars of the auction will include the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd. Also for sale are various concert posters - tipped to be a big collecting niche in 2012 - Woodstock memorabilia and rare records. Around 300 lots will appear for sale.
The auction will be jointly arranged by Gary Sohmers, a Pop Culture expert, who has appeared on 13 seasons of US TV's Antiques Roadshow as an antiques appraiser. He also curates regular scheduled auctions of toys, pop culture, comic books, Hollywood collectibles and music memorabilia.

Among this sale's highlights is a Hard Day's Night movie poster, The Beatles' first-ever movie which has since been described as "the Citizen Kane of jukebox musicals." In 1964, a soundtrack LP was released to accompany the film.

Meanwhile, collectors with a love of rare concert photographs need look no further than the New York sale. This features such big names as Led Zeppelin, Queen, Bob Marley, Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and many others.
The auction will also offer a Gold Record Award for Paul McCartney for the Fab Four's final album, Let It Be, given to the songwriter by his former manager.
