Tsarouchis is regarded as one of the most important Greek painters of the 20th century: in elevating his working class models into symbols of the modern Greek spirit, he became known as both a painter of the people and an important classical artist.
Autumn features the figure of Dominic - an allegorical representation of the season - clasping a glass of wine. He is bordered by symbols of fruitfulness, including grapes and peaches.
A Tsarouchis canvas, featuring the artist in his study with a model and a helmet, brought £97,000 ($147,115) to Sotheby's London in October 2001.
According to Knight Frank's 2013 Wealth Report, fine art grew in value at a rate of 199% between 2002 and 2012.
