William Wendt's Lupine Patch will lead an auction of California and Western art at Bonhams Los Angeles.

The painting dates to 1921 and is thought to be the only landscape featuring wild lupine Wendt ever painted.
It's expected to make $120,000-180,000 in the August 2 sale.
Wendt was known as the "Dean of California Painters" for his part in nurturing the state's nascent art scene in the early 1900s.
He founded the California Art Club in 1909, an organisation that remains active to this today.
His auction record is $1.5m, set for The Old Coast Road in a 2014 sale.
