Unseen Michael Jackson photographs to auction in Paris

In the wake of news that Michael Jackson is now the top-earning dead celebrity with posthumous earnings of around $1bn, a Paris auction house is auctioning a collection of previously unseen Jackson photographs.

It's expected that the King of Pop's fans will book hotels in the French capital to see the exclusive collection, which will be sold by Pierre Bergé & Associés.

Featured in the sale are twelve images taken by the French photographer Arno Bani, who worked with Jackson in 1999.

Bidding will start at €1,000, according to the auction house - but, given Jackson's recent form at auctions around the world, prices are likely to achieve considerably higher values.

Meanwhile, for fans unable to make it over to Paris, it's planned that the photographs will be published worldwide in October, reports the AFP news agency.

Since Jackon's death from a heart attack last June, aged 50, his estate has risen to a value of $1bn - overtaking Yves Saint Laurent's posthumous earnings of $350m.

This total was aided by various successes, including 31 million album sales since Jackson's death, and $145m made by cinema ticket, DVD and Blu-Ray sales of This Is It, the documentary of his aborted final gigs.

The King of Pop's posthumous success is sure to continue, as his record label Sony plans to release reissue albums and unheard tracks onto the market later this year.
