The elephant photo, along with a second oversized Peter Beard print starring several men riding a rhino, also estimated at £60,000 ($91,834), was commissioned by the late Anne Ignou - esteemed collector and owner of the Hotel Nord Pinnus.
Located in the heart of Arles, a sun-struck city in the south of France and one-time residence of Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, the hotel has long been a favourite destination of the artistic elite. Past guests include Picasso and Jean Cocteau.
Having been exhibited in the hotel for over a decade; the sale presents collectors with the opportunity to acquire photographs with remarkable provenance.
A topless photograph of Angelina Jolie is also to feature in the sale. Taken in 2001 by celebrity-snapper David LaChapelle, Horseplay stars Jolie posing with an equine fan. It is estimated to be worth £35,000 ($53,553).
