Stolen Vincent van Gogh paintings recovered in Naples

Two paintings by Vincent van Gogh have been recovered 14 years after being stolen from a museum in Amsterdam.

Congregation Leaving the Reformed Church in Nuenen was one of the two works recovered

The works are titled View of the Sea at Scheveningen (1882) and Congregation Leaving the Reformed Church in Nuenen (1884).

While the thieves behind the robbery were arrested in 2004, the fate of the paintings was unknown.

They were found in the home of a Mafia-linked drug trafficker in Naples. The organisation is known to trade stolen paintings as a form of currency.

If sold they would each be worth millions of dollars.
