Stolen George Rodrigue painting found by punk band

A painting by Louisiana artist George Rodrigue has been recovered by a punk rock band after being stolen earlier in the week.

The piece, valued at $250,000, was taken from the Rodrigue Gallery in New Orleans on Tuesday.

Local punk band Stereo Fire Empire found it the following day behind some bins close to the gallery.

George's son, Jacques Rodrigue, commented: "We are so thankful for the good Samaritans that saved this special artwork.

"Dad painted 'Wendy and Me' for his wedding to Wendy so this is an irreplaceable piece to my family. We are overjoyed to have it returned undamaged."
