Racy Marilyn Monroe photograph laid bare at Christie's London sale

Marilyn Monroe is never far from the news these days. Her wedding ring is set to be sold at Profiles in History, as are more of her classic movie dresses. You can even buy some of her hair from A Small Piece of History. Now a classic racy photograph of the blonde bombshell has been uncovered.

It comes from the series called The Last Sitting which made American photographer Bert Stern famous.

Hetook 2,500 photographs of Marilyn over three days in June 1962 as a shoot for Vogue magazine. Monroe was found dead just six weeks later.

This photo shows Marilyn from the waist up, grinning, nude except for a scarf she's holding up which is entirely transparent. It will be sold by Christie's on November 2 in London.

The incredible roll call of subjects captured also includes James Joyce, Jesse Owens, Coco Chanel, Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Paul Newman, The Beatles, Mohammed Ali, Johnny Depp, Madonna and Barack Obama.

The auction presents an inspiring array of powerful, seductive and beautiful images which celebrate the visual language of the 20th and 21st century; from famous faces of fashion, style and celebrity, to explorations of the architecture and life which frames them.

Risqué photographs of film/TV stars and models continue to be coveted. Whilst not in the same league as Marilyn Monroe, glamour shoots of Kate Moss, Brigitte Bardot and Pamela Anderson are all coveted by collectors and we have excellent examples in stock.

Marilyn collectors on the other hand will be more interested in a legal document signed by Monroe.
