A Queen Anne period (1665-1714) maple dresser is among several keenly anticipated pieces of investment-grade furniture set to cross the auction floor in Maine next month.
The Massachusetts maple highboy dresser features a swan neck pediment, alongside flame twist finials, and a fan-carved top centre drawer.

It is estimated at $10,000-15,000 ahead of the June 9 and 10 Fine Art, Antiques & Asian Treasures auction.
A Biedermeier five-part secretary desk/collector's cabinet from Germany will also feature prominently. Displaying exotic veneers with shaped string inlaid panels, it is estimated to achieve $4,000-6,000.
A petite New York Sheraton solid mahogany huntboard with inlaid and string banded decoration is valued at $3,000-4,000.
Auction house owner and auctioneer Kaja Veilleux commented: "Never have I seen so many wonderful and rare items in our gallery. Many of the fine pieces in this sale represent the lifetime collections of three important families."
Antique furniture, especially that of the English variety, is making waves around the world. A report by the Daily Mail newspaper recently found that prices for English furniture in China are selling for 10 times the amounts achieved in their homeland.

The sale, which offers pieces across three centuries of design, will also feature a 96 piece set of Georg Jensen sterling flatware. Designed by Johan Rohde in the Acanthus pattern, it has an $8,000-10,000 estimate.
