The Asian market for collectibles looks set to see increased interest in the booming world of comic books, as Sotheby's exhibit of China's Old Master Q drawings sees record attendance.

The Hong Kong exhibit drew more collectors than expected, with over 5,000 queuing to see works by illustrator Alphonso Wong Kar-hei (pen name Wong Chak). A selling exhibition, all of the works offered have now been sold, ahead of the close on August 29.
The comic books, which sees a hapless character in traditional Chinese clothing providing commentary on Chinese culture, has been a regular fixture at newsstands since 1962.
The enthusiasm for the exhibit could see a wave of comic books sales in China. Comics produced in China have their own title (manhua) and stand apart from western comic books, with distinct graphic and content styles.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a superb line-up of comic and illustration art available.
