Sendak produced the watercolour for a TV version of Prokofiev's For the Love of Three Oranges

The piece was painted in 1985 for a TV version of Prokofiev's opera For the Love of Three Oranges and is one of very few paintings by Sendak on the market.

In November last year, a Mickey Mouse moneybank from the Maurice Sendak collection of Disneyania made $28,750 at Hake's.
