LS Lowry's A House offered in British and Irish art auction

LS Lowry's A House will be a highlight of Bonhams' Modern British and Irish Art sale in London on June 15.

Lowry house painting
Lowry painted a number of Welsh scenes in the mid-1960s

The painting dates to 1964 and is believed to show a Welsh landscape. Lowry produced a number of canvases in the mid-1960s that were inspired by visits to Wales.

Christopher Dawson of Bonhams told WalesOnline: "We list a couple of very strong paintings by him - one called Hillside in Wales, which is in The Tate gallery created in 1962, which is two years prior to the date that this work we're offering was executed.

"Then there's a picture called Bargoed as well from 1965 so you can see that during this three- or four-year period there's strong influence from [Wales]."

It's valued at £200,000-300,000 ($288,600-432,900).
