Guyette and Deeter’s decoy auction set for November

Guyette and Deeter’s November 9 decoy auction will star a pair of standing green teal ducks by legendary carving duo the Ward Brothers.

Ward Brothers decoy

The Ward Brothers started making decoys in their barbershop in Crisfield, Maryland

They’re valued at $22,500-27,500.

Lemual and Stephen Ward ran a barber shop together in Crisfield, Maryland. They were both keen duck hunters and in the 1920s began making decoys to sell to local buyers.

This pair dates to 1948. Both are signed by Lemual under the wings. They’re decorative pieces, made for display rather than the field, which may reduce their appeal to buyers.

The brothers' record is $109,250, set for a swimming goldeneye drake in 2006.
