David Hockney paintings will feature at Bonhams in May

Bonhams is to offer two works by British artist David Hockney in its Modern British and Irish art auction in London on May 28.

Room With a View depicts the scene from the window of Hockney's studio in Bridlington

The first, Room With a View, depicts Bridlington in Yorkshire where Hockney maintains a studio. It is expected to make £150,000-200,000 ($250,200-333,600).

The other, Tyger, is an abstract work and carries an estimate of £40,000-60,000 ($66,720-100,080).

Neither has ever appeared at auction before.

Penny Day, Bonhams' director of modern British and Irish art, commented: "We are delighted to be offering two significant paintings by such an important British name. Both works are of contrasting date and style, presenting an exciting opportunity for collectors".
