Daphne Guinness clothing collection to auction at Christie's

Part of Daphne Guinness' renowned clothing collection is coming to auction later in the month at Christie's.

The British and Irish heiress, born in 1967, is a descendant of the renowned beer producer Arthur Guinness.

She is famed for her love of fashion, and collectors will have the opportunity to get a piece of the action on June 27 in London.

The sale will raise money for the Isabella Blow Foundation, which Guinness established in the memory of her fashion-loving friend, who committed suicide in 2007.

Guinness bought the collection of Isabella Blow last year, but these items come from Guinness' own assemblage.

An Alexander McQueen dress will be among the most keenly contested of the 102 lots. Offered with a high estimate of £20,000, the metallic tulip-shaped skirt was made specifically for Guinness by the British designer.

A pair of Alexander McQueen-made boots will also star, and could surpass £2,500.

The sale will also feature Chanel, Dosa, Dolce & Gabanna, and Requiem dresses, among the many famous labels on offer.

A Christian Lacroix bubble dress, which Guinness purchased in 1987, will appear with a £2,000 valuation.

Singer Lady Gaga is a well-known devotee of Guinness' taste.

"Isabella and Daphne are two exceptional human beings, women, icons," the singer told SHOWstudio.com.

"I've examined their lives and their personalities in order to understand myself better. Daphne, like Isabella, is a huge source of inspiration for me. I cherish them both. It is as if we are all cut from the same cloth."

Pat Frost, Christie's director of Christie's fashion department, commented: "We are delighted to be offering the fashion world this incredible one-off opportunity to buy some of the most iconic and cutting-edge haute couture of the early 21st century, owned and worn by Daphne Guinness."

A Mario Testino photograph of Guinness, taken for British Vogue in 2008, will also appear at the sale, with a £30,000 valuation.
