Charles Schulz Peanuts strip sells for $25,000 at Bonhams auction

Bonhams Fine Books & Manuscripts auction on February 17 in San Francisco was highlighted by the sale of a Charles Schulz signed Peanuts comic strip.

Schulz signed strips always sell well, but those with celebrity provenance see top bids, such as the example inscribed to basketball star Dr J which sold for $20,123 in June 2012.

The strip made a strong appearance in the auction's top lots, selling for $25,000. It was inscribed to M*A*S*H actor Harry Morgan and his wife, Eileen.

In a typically thoughtful inscription, Schulz wrote "For Harry and Eileen with friendship and every best wish - Sparky." The strip itself sees Charlie Brown attempting to overcome his compulsion to kick the football held by Lucy, only to find himself tempted by more members of the gang.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has perhaps the finest stock holding of Charles Schulz-signed Peanuts memorabilia for sale.  We also have a signed photograph of the cast of M*A*S*H, including Harry Morgan.
