Bonhams to offer Alexander McQueen's 'Queen of the night' dress

Two dresses from the late Alexander McQueen's Autumn/Winter 2007 Ready-To-Wear collection - inspired by the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 - are to be sold at Bonhams in London.

The dresses will appear as part of Bonhams' Vision 21 sale on June 30; among the first to be sold at auction since the death of the celebrated designer on February 11.

They include a gold sequinned dress, described by Vogue as "the Queen of the night" on the eve of the Paris show.


Alexander McQueen's "the Queen of the night" dress (£12,000-18,000)

It was most recently seen worn by Australian pop star Holly Valance at the Brit Awards this year, a few days after McQueen's death. The dress has attracted a pre-sale estimate of £12,000-18,000.

McQueen's Ready-To-Wear collection was at the time was described by The Daily Telegraph's Fashion Director, Hilary Alexander, as "one of the designer's sexiest."

The collection also featured a peacock feather dress, which is also to be sold at Bonhams estimated at £10,000-14,000.
