The flourishing market for Jean-Michel Basquiat's work was once again demonstrated at Christie's Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale, with the artist's untitled 1982 work selling in London last night (June 25).

The piece sold for $18.7 ($28.9m), with the estimated value only available on request.
It belongs to the same group of double portraits as Dustheads, which set the world record for his work at $48.8m at Christie's May auction in New York.
Prior to this, the world record for Basquiat's work was broken twice in 2012.

Peter Doig's 1994 work Jetty also saw spectacular results, rising to a 22.3% increase on its £6m to sell for £7.3m ($11.3m).
The vast painting has remained in the same private collection since the year of its creation, which was also the year in which Doig was nominated for the Turner Prize and won the first prize in the Prix Eliette von Karajan.
Works from 1994 are now widely considered the best of Doig's career.

Looking for the Light IV set the world record for the work of Eduardo Chillida, selling for £4m ($6.3m). Described as one of Chillida's grandest and most ambitious works, the 2001 sculpture is a spectacular monolith produced from weathering steel.
