Secretive Bristolian street artist Banksy has donated a new piece of work to pressure group Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT).
Civilian Drone Strike raised $278,000 for the CAAT
Titled Civilian Drone Strike, the piece appeared in the group’s Art the Arms Fair charity exhibition last week, where it raised £205,000 ($278,041).
It features a framed stick figure drawing of an exploding house, twinned with three wall-mounted models of US Predator drones.
Andrew Smith, a spokesman for CAAT, said: “This money will be used to ensure we mobilise even more people against the immoral activities of arms companies, and against the next arms fair, so that we can stop it from happening.
“It’s time to shut it down for good.”
A number of Banksy murals have appeared on London’s Southbank, marking the arrival of a major exhibition of legendary street artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
