Art deco poster auction set for Swann Galleries

A number of art deco and cutting edge advertising posters are to cross the block in New York at Swann Auction Galleries on May 13.

AM Cassandre's The Continent / via Harwich, London, 1928 has a $12,000 high estimate

Among the eye-catching offerings, several examples by Ukrainian-French designer AM Cassandre stand out in terms of both artistry and estimated worth.

A 1925 Turmac La Cigarette Turque poster, and a poster designed for the safety glass brand Triplex in 1931, both carry individual $20,000 top estimates, while a 1927 poster for the Nord Express is anticipated to achieve $18,000.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, American actor Leonardo DiCaprio divulged that he collected vintage posters. "To me, that's a really undervalued marketplace," DiCaprio told the publication.
