A signed Mick Jagger screen print by the godfather of pop art, Andy Warhol, is expected to bring £30,000 ($46,000) to Bonhams London on July 16.

The print is likely to appeal to two distinct groups of collectors: those who invest in contemporary art as well as die-hard Rolling Stones fans

Signed in pencil by both Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger and the artist, and numbered 220/250, the artwork was initially published as part of a portfolio of 10 screen prints depicting the rock and roll star.

Head of Bonhams prints department, Rupert Worrall, comments: "This interpretation is certainly the most striking due to both the dynamic use of areas of bold colours and the idealised contours of Jagger's facial characteristics.

"Warhol's focus on celebrities ensures the market for his work remains strong." 

The work is likely to appeal to both Rolling Stones fans and those invested in the contemporary art market.

In June 2006, Andy Warhol's iconic acrylic and silkscreen ink portrait of Jagger sold for £792,000 ($1.2m) at Sotheby's.

A seldom-seen complete set of 105 Salvador Dali lithographs is also to star at the present sale. Estimated at £60,000 ($91,486), it is thought to be the only complete set still in existence - a real draw for collectors.

Worrall explains: "The set that comprises 105 [lithographs] was intended as printer's proofs before the series was editioned and as a result kept out of circulation. The edition itself was not signed. [sic]"

The market for works by Dali remains strong. Earlier this month, a series of 14 watercolour studies of fruit by the surrealist artist dominated sales at Bonhams' Impressionist and Modern Art auction, bringing a combined £726,700 ($1.1m) to the London sale.
