€25k sci-fi classic leads Paris comics sale

Comics have emerged as the big new collectible of 2010 - most notably with the auctioning of Detective Comics #27, Batman's first-ever appearance, for an incredible $1,075,500.

On March 13, collectors who missed out on that sale had another chance to get involved in the comic markets at Artcurial's Comic Strips: An Amateur's Collection auction held in Paris.

Drawn by Edwin Charles Tubb, and sold for €25,202

The major highlight of the sale featured Nikopol, the star of writer Enki Bilal's popular science fiction comics from 1980-1993.

Drawn by Edwin Charles Tubb and published in 1980 for issue number 13 of the Le Masque Science Fiction collection, this exceptional artwork (pictured) sold for €25,202.

The comic issue in which it was featured was entitled La Foire aux Immortels.
