A pair of Jesus Tapia spurs made $130,000 at High Noon Western Americana in Los Angeles on January 26 - up 225% on a $40,000 estimate.

Created circa 1920, the spurs feature a filigree floral motif and the original straps. Mexico-born Tapia (1856-1931) is regarded as among the most desirable spur makers in the world, renowned for his elaborate and elegant designs.
The spurs feature his mark on the reverse, along with his customary raised nipple conchos.
We have this signed photograph of John Wayne in his role as Rooster Cogburn.
