An elaborate Italian jewel casket produced by Florence's Grand Ducal Workshops is to lead bids in Bonhams' Fine European Furniture and Decorative Arts auction in San Francisco.

The previously unrecorded casket, which dates to the 18th century, is considered rare and important, warranting an estimated sale price of $80,000-120,000 ahead of the October 28 auction.
It is one of many antique items selling at Bonhams, in a sale that will coincide with the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show.
Also starring will be important French furniture from the collection of Karl Lagerfeld, which is led by a finely carved Louis XVI giltwood console d'applique, estimated at $40,000-60,000.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a superb selection of antique English furniture for sale.
