An Indian bronze statue of Hindu god Ganesh realised £114,000 ($141,577) at Special Auction Services in the UK last week.

The piece had originally been valued at £100-200 ($124-248), resulting in a staggering increase of 56,900%.
The Antiques Trade Gazette reports that the consignor brought it to a valuation day in her handbag. She acquired it from her father, who was in the merchant navy.
While it was originally believed to be a tourist trinket, it's now thought to date to around the 13th or 14th century.
