A gold-plated silver and copper dragon snuff bottle has sold for $965,000 at Bonhams' sale of Fine Chinese Works of Art in San Francisco.

It dates to the Qianlong period (1736-1795) and features relief depictions of dragons, clouds and waves.
A Ruyao-type vase dating to the same era made $857,000.
The piece is based on ceramics from the imperial kiln in Ruyao that was active during the time of the Song dynasty (960-1279).
It primarily produced pottery for large-scale, civilian use.
