Baccarat chandelier with $15,000 estimate will lead Fall sale

A Baccarat gilt and patinated bronze figural chandelier will highlight Heritage Auctions' Fall Signature sale on October 5-7 with an estimate of $15,000.

The chandelier dates to the 19th century and features bronze cherubs seated on the central frame.

Other highlights include a Persian rosewood Minguren coffee table with an estimate of $12,000 and a walnut platform bed which is valued at $7,000. Both items are attributed to George Nakashima.

Nakashima was a Japanese-American woodworker and a key figure in the development of the American craft movement. In 2006, an important table built by the designer sold for $822,400 at Sotheby's New York.

Ed Beardsley, vice president for fine and decorative arts at Heritage, commented: "This season's event offers a fresh-to-market selection of fine paintings, sculpture and furniture from several important private collections and ideal for all collector levels."

The Dallas auction will be held alongside the Gentleman Collector Auction, which begins on October 6. An array of gentleman's accessories from private collections will feature - including a silver Galapagos penguin with an estimate of $10,000.

The penguin was presented to Vincent Astor, son of industrialist John Jacob Astor, by his shipmates following an expedition to the Galapagos Islands in 1930.
