- A black and white photograph postcard signed by the pioneering Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human being in space.
Yuri Gagarin (1934 - 1968) was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut who became the first human being in outer space in April 1961.
Gagarin complete an orbit of the Earth inside the Soviet space capsule Vostok-1, and became a national hero and an international celebrity on his return to Earth.
A fantastic, head and shoulders length black and white postcard photograph (approx 3.5x5.5 in) of Gagarin pictured in uniform holding a white dove.
Signed across the upper right portion of the image in blue biro pen ink.
The piece also includes a signature from wealthy Canadian businessman Cyrus S. Eaton towards the upper left portion of the piece. This suggests the pair signed the postcard in August 1961, when Gagarin visited Nova Scotia, Canada to attend a celebration organised by Eaton.
An excellent piece in fine condition.
