Great Britain 1877 10s colour trial Telegraphs, Plate 1, SGT16svar.
A very fine imperforate unmounted mint, with full original gum, corner marginal colour trial block of four in dull mauve lettered 'AA-BB', complete with sheet inscription and warrant number. Each stamp is overprinted "SPECIMEN" type 8 (inverted).
A couple of light gum bends as usual, nevertheless a very attractive and scarce piece.
The first Post Office Telegraph stamps were issued on 1 February 1876 and from 1 May 1876 ordinary postage stamps could no longer be used in payment of telegraphs.
