This is from the final issue of the Edward VII high values before the King’s sudden death in May 1910 delayed broader planned changes to the definitive series.
Although King Edward VII passed away in May 1910, this final issue of the 5s carmine was printed during the early reign of George V in 1911, making it one of the very last stamps bearing the portrait of the late monarch to be officially released. As such, it bridges two reigns and marks the end of the Edwardian philatelic era.
