Great Britain 1855 2d Blue Plate 6, SG35var – Right Marginal Imprimatur
A superb unused imperforate imprimatur of the 1855 2d blue, Plate 6, lettered 'HL', with wide right margin showing part of the original sheet inscription.
This stamp is an original imprimatur taken from the sheet retained by the printers prior to release. Only 21 examples have been removed from the imprimatur sheet, with several known to be held in institutional collections, making this a particularly rare opportunity for private collectors.
The stamp is beautifully balanced with large margins and strong colour. A natural paper inclusion near the “H” square is present, typical of the printing process and not detracting from its exceptional appearance.
