- A unique presentation piece featuring signatures from Winnie-the-Pooh creators AA Milne and EH Shepard
- Also includes an astonishingly rare childhood signature from Milne’s son Christopher Robin – one of only six known childhood autographs to have come up for sale
Winnie-the-Pooh is a classic of children’s literature. Writer AA Milne based the characters (including Pooh's friends Eeyore and Piglet) on his son Christopher Robin’s own stuffed toys, with Christopher himself at the centre of the narrative.
Illustrator EH Shepard brought the stories to life with his exquisite line drawings. Winnie-the-Pooh remains one of the best-loved children’s characters ever created.
This exceptional display features signatures from all three of the principle figures involved in the creation of Winnie-the-Pooh.
Both author AA Milne and illustrator EH Shepard’s signatures are clipped from a limited edition signed copy of The King’s Breakfast (1925), a collection of Milne’s poems. The edition was published in a run of just 100 copies.
Christopher Robin’s signature has been cut from an exercise book. He would have been around seven when he signed here in black fountain pen - during the same era his father was writing about him. The pencil guidelines are still visible under his writing.
Christopher Robin autographs from this period are phenomenally rare. We know of only five other specimens to have sold.
All three signatures are housed in a 24.4 x 20.4 inch black frame, along with two printed photographs. One features Christopher Robin holding the original Pooh, while the other shows all his stuffed animals. A must have for any Winnie-the-Pooh fan.
