China 1923–33 Second Peking Printing $20 Blue and Plum, SG332
A striking upper right corner marginal example of the $20 high-value stamp from the second Peking printing, featuring the beautifully engraved image of the Gate of Heavenly Peace.
An exceptional and rarely seen very fine mint positional example, lightly hinged with fine original gum. Excellent centring, fresh and vibrant and, notably, displaying the original printing sheet number '8 240" in the upper margin.
A quite exceptional quality positional example for the most discerning of collectors.
The stamp issue features the Gate of Heavenly Peace in Peking, widely used as a national symbol. It was first built during the Ming dynasty in 1420. The tower has been destroyed and rebuilt several times.
